Medieval Cross Cultural Encounters This is a Tumblr page devoted to recording instances of scholarly exchange between Muslims, Christians, and Jews during the Medieval and Early Modern periods. Rather than writing detailed analyses of these interactions in this project, the goal is simply to record the basic details, with an eye to pursuing these leads more thoroughly in other scholarly formats. I should note that there is already a wealth of material on the subject, especially on the twelfth-century translations. This digital resource is meant as a complement to this material and as a potential means for generating new material, new ideas, and new approaches.
This work-in-progress map provides a visual representation of the translators, translations, and dates of translations of philosophical and scientific texts during the medieval period at various sites around the Mediterranean.
